Without a doubt, the crystal waters and golden sand of Alicante’s beaches permit one of the most evoking beach merriments on the Costa Blanca. With the city's mild climate in tow, beach life in Alicante is feasibly and practically all year round. Beaches to suit anyone’s tastes are available for the frolicking.
If one opts for an open beach, La Playa de San Juan is a very ecstatic option, endowed with seven kilometres of golden sand flanked by a road accessible to any point desired. Alicante’s biggest beach drawer is arguably San Juan, which sports luxurious villas, hotels and restaurants.
In contrast, the La Albufereta is a far more intimate, residential stretch of sand. This is essentially a secluded beach, protected by the headland of the Serra Grossa.
Situated almost within the city itself, the urban beach of El Postiguet, sitting at the foot of the Benacantil Mountain, is a livewire convergence point for many sun worshippers. The beach is located next to the port, within easy strolling distance. Another alternative is the beach called Los Saladares, Iying south of the city in the area known as Agua Amarga.
Aside from the ubiquitous fine sands of its beaches, Alicante also offers rugged, rocky areas with coves such as Los Cantarales, Los Judios and Palmera.
If one is in the mood for exhibition, then the nudist beaches of El Saladar and Los Judios affords one such liberating experience. Meanwhile, scuba divers can go deep off the shores of the Isla de Tabarca, just off the coast.
